Gesture handling refers to the way a web application manages user interactions with elements such as maps on touchscreens and trackpads. It's crucial for preventing users from unintentionally getting trapped in a map interface while trying to scroll through a webpage. When properly implemented, gesture handling allows for a smoother transition between scrolling the page and interacting with the map, enhancing overall user experience.
Without effective gesture handling, users might find themselves zooming in or out of a map when they intended to scroll past it. This can be particularly frustrating on long pages where a map is merely one of many elements. By enabling gesture handling, you provide a more controlled environment, allowing users to engage with the map intentionally, rather than accidentally.
Customizing the gesture handling feature in your store locator is straightforward within our application's settings. Here's how:
Access the App Settings:
Open Progus Store Locator and navigate to the "Settings" page, then select the "General" card.
Find the Gesture Handling Setting:
Look for the "Gesture Handling" section. Here, you'll find two main options: Enable and Disable.
Enable Gesture Handling:
To prevent users from accidentally getting caught in the map while scrolling, select "Enable". This setting enhances the user experience by requiring a more deliberate action to interact with the map, such as a click or a drag.
Disable Gesture Handling:
If you prefer that users interact with the map as soon as they touch or click on it, choose "Disable". This option might be suitable for pages where the map is a primary focus.
Save Your Changes:
After making your selection, ensure you save your changes to apply them to your store locator.
