Browser Geolocation:
This method requests the user's permission to access more precise location data through GPS or Wi-Fi. It's capable of pinpointing the user's exact address, offering the highest accuracy for location services. However, it requires users to agree to share their location.
Estimated IP Geolocation:
Utilizing the user's IP address, this method estimates the user's approximate location, usually identifying the city level. It does not necessitate user permission, making it a less intrusive option, though it provides less precision compared to browser geolocation.
Combination Approach:
For optimal flexibility, this setting attempts to use browser geolocation first. If the user disallows it, the system automatically falls back on estimated IP geolocation. This hybrid approach ensures that location-based services remain functional, albeit at varying levels of accuracy, depending on the method used.
To tailor the geolocation settings for your store locator, follow these steps:
Navigate to Geolocation Settings:
Open Progus Store Locator and go to the "Settings" menu.
Select "General" and find the "geolocation" section.
Select Your Preferred Geolocation Method:
Choose from the three available options based on your preference for accuracy versus the need for user permission:
Browser Geolocation
Estimated IP Geolocation
Combination Approach
Apply and Save Changes:
After selecting your preferred method, ensure you save your changes to apply the new geolocation settings to your store locator.
Selecting the right geolocation method impacts how users interact with your store locator. Browser geolocation, while accurate, may be hindered by users who decline to share their location. The estimated IP geolocation, though less precise, offers an uninterrupted experience. The combination approach balances accuracy with user compliance, adapting based on user permissions.
